here are a hand full pictures from last month. i was kindly invited to use choku kimura’s lab for development and scanning. unfortunately i messed up when spooling up the film. this makes for some of the “special effects” you can see on the pictures.
in the first week i visited the local shrine-carrying "mikoshi" of the local community. everybody in a great mood (sake day drinking), superb weather and nice drumming.
these kind of diy seating situations are a common sight at bus stops. sometimes a wooden stool, sometimes a broken office or a kirin beer crate.
the following pictures show the workplace of choku's grandfather. 97 years old, talks, reads, cooks and makes small vessels and vases from bamboo. sometimes they crack when drying - in this case they meet the cleaver and later the incinerator of the local wast management.
(his secret to longevity is drinking sake. his personal schedule suggest starting the application around noon. preferably from a coffee mug with big handle.)
is this the tokyo toilet everybody is raging about?
anyway, lets see what happens next - kunde
